On November 8, 2007, Assemblymember Mary Hayashi (D-Hayward) will be honored by the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) for her hard work and dedication to protecting family planning services in California.

In particular, PPAC will thank Assemblymember Hayashi for making certain Senate Bill (SB) 94 (Kuehl) (Principal Co-Author Hayashi) passed through the Legislature.  Hayashi was integral in the legislative process and worked closely with Assembly and Senate leadership to ensure its passage. 

Hayashi has gained national recognition in the past for her commitment to women’s health issues.  She is the author of Far From Home, Shattering the Myth of the Model Minority and has consistently been rated by Planned Parenthood as a leader devoted to women’s reproductive issues.

SB 94 increases Medi-Cal reimbursement rates for the state’s family planning program. The program, created by Governor Pete Wilson, was signed into law by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and will go far to providing valuable family planning services to Medi-Cal recipients throughout the state.

Hayashi will receive this special recognition on November 8, 2007.  The event, hosted by PPAC, will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City.
