Castro Valley’s own, Assembymember Mary Hayashi (D-Hayward) held her district office open house Friday, January 12. In her new office space on Foothill Blvd., Hayashi met with community members, many of whom are prominent citizens of Castro Valley, and introduced her staff to the community.

“We want to provide services for people here,” said Hayashi during the open house. “Today local residents meet my staff. I will be in Sacramento Monday through Thursday every week, but I will be here on Thursday afternoons and Fridays, unless it’s a holiday week, and we’ll have to work all five days in Sacramento.”

Hayashi’s staff members—Lara Flynn, chief of staff; Stephany Yoder, press-secretary and policy director; Blaze Farrar, a field representative; Chris Parman, district manager, and Sandy King, scheduler—were at hand to meet with the community.

“Mary is an eloquent, articulate advocate for youth, children, education, environment, and working families,” said Isaac Kos-Read of Townsend Public Affairs, summarizing the feelings of all the present. “We love Mary,” said Bob Swanson of Supervisor’s Miley office. “Her passion and energy are refreshing and needed in Sacramento.”

Senator Ellen Corbett was present at the event as well as Castro Valley Democratic Club representatives, members of Alameda County Planning Commission, Eden and Chabot College Board members, director of Castro Valley Adult School and other public figures of Castro Valley, Hayward and San Leandro.

Assemblymember Hayashi’s office is located at 22320 Foothill Blvd., Suite 540 in Hayward. Call 583-8818 for more information.
