Home Foreclosure Prevention Workshops: In order to assist with the mortgage crisis, Assembly Member Cathleen Galgiani has hosted many Home Foreclosure Prevention Workshops. At these workshops, counselors are on-hand to help homeowners avoid potential foreclosures by giving them personalized assistance. This hearing will provide information on the 2007 Farm Bill and its effects on the future of farming in California. The Farm Bill is the authorizing law for major food and farm programs, and it covers issues such as energy, nutrition, conservation, and rural development. With California being the largest agricultural producer and exporter in the nation, the Farm Bill has a direct impact on the future of agriculture in our state. Informational Hearing on the Development of University of California, Merced Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani, Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on the Development of the 10th University of California, Merced Campus, cordially invites you to attend the Committee’s first informational hearing.
This hearing will provide information on the development of the University of California, Merced since its opening on September 5, 2005. As the first new American research university of the 21st century and the first UC campus in 40 years, UC Merced is expected to accommodate as many as 25,000 students when the campus grows to full capacity in about three decades. Key witnesses at the hearing will include: Chancellor of UC Merced Sung-Mo “Steve” Kang Following the panelist presentation, there will be a question and answer period.
