AB 45 passes its first major hurdle in the Senate, t
AB 45 was heard in the Senate Education Committee on July 11th. In order for it to get there, it had to pass off the Assembly floor, which it did on June 5th with a 47 – 32 vote. A joyous Assemblymember Swanson is seen above with Oakland City Council President Pro Tempore Jean Quan (far left) and a group of students who traveled to Sacramento to testify in support of the bill. In a testament to the momentum that AB 45 gained, the measure received bi-partisan support in the Senate Education Committee and passed with a decisive 7 – 1 vote.
