Maxwell Park neighborhood parent Ilana Kohn and her three year old son Jonah Kohn-Rabinowitz were among the 50-plus people who testified on the importance of AB 45. “My 3 year old son will attend an Oakland public school one day, and AB 45 is absolutely necessary,” she stated. Other witnesses expressed their frustration that they have no voice and no elected body to hold accountable for the major decisions affecting the quality of their children’s education, such as school closures.
