Sandré Swanson testifies on AB 45 before the Assembly Education committee
April 25th, 2007. Assemblymember Swanson presented his bill returning local governance and accountability to the Oakland Unified School District to the Assembly Education Committee. This came after months of laboring in Sacramento to build support from other legislators for AB 45. After testimony by community stakeholders that was at times emotional and charged, the Assembly Education Committee voted to pass AB 45 on a seven to three vote.
