April 10th, 2007. Assemblymember Sandré Swanson presented his bill, AB 1334, The Inmate and Community Public Health and Safety Act, before the Public Safety Committee. AB 1334 will reduce the number of new HIV infections in the community by halting the disease at one of its most common sources: prisons. Mr. Swanson was joined by a broad coalition of supporters from throughout California who testified on behalf of the bill, which passed the committee 5 – 2. AB 1334 later passed in the full Assembly by a vote of 42 – 36.
