Swanson and Hancock honor Special Olympics

Assemblyman Sandré Swanson (D –Oakland) and Assemblywoman Loni Hancock (D – Berkeley) showed their support for the Special Olympics Northern California Games last weekend with a joint Assembly resolution.

The two legislators made special note of the program’s tenure and many contributions to the individuals and families affected by developmental disabilities in their resolution.This year’s Special Olympics took place at U.C. Berkeley.

“Special Olympics Northern California has a long and proud history of touching people’s lives,” Swanson said, while Hancock called the games “an inspiration.”

Special Olympics Northern California is a free year-round training and competition program that serves more than 15,000 adults and children with developmental disabilities. This year, approximately 1000 athletes from throughout Northern California came to Berkeley to compete in aquatics, bocce, tennis, track & field or volleyball.
