Unique, Half-day Conference to Highlight Opportunities for “Clean” Technology Companies
RICHMOND, CA Assemblymember Loni Hancock (D-Richmond), California State Treasurer Phil Angelides and Richmond Mayor Irma Anderson on Friday will launch an effort to make California the center of a new, clean-technology economy creating jobs, cleaning up our environment, and reducing the threat of global warming.
A half-day conference, sponsored by the California Debt and Investment Advisory Commission (CDIAC), chaired by California State Treasurer Phil Angelides, will bring innovative clean technology companies together with finance experts who will help them access public and private capital. The symposium will encourage participants to help create a vibrant, sustainable future in the City of Richmond, which is uniquely positioned to be a clean technology leader. Richmond features natural energy sources such as strong tides, constant waves, high winds and abundant sunshine.
Among the featured speakers at the symposium will be California Treasurer Angelides, Assemblymember Hancock and Dr. Bob Epstein, co-founder of Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2).
Friday’s conference builds on the success of Treasurer Angelides’ groundbreaking Green Wave Environmental Investment Initiative. The innovative environmental investment initiative will direct more than $1 billion in investments by the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) to create jobs, clean up the environment, and combat global warming.
