The Temperature’s Rising!

A Town Hall Meeting on Solutions to the Global Warming Crisis

Carbon Footprint

On Saturday, April 14, Assemblywoman Loni Hancock hosted, "The Temperature's Rising!," a town hall meeting on solutions to the climate change crisis at Berkeley City College. More than 200 participants came to hear over a dozen experts and community leaders address state and local initiatives to stop global warming, as well as what individuals can do to reduce their carbon footprint. The speakers included Sierra Club Deputy Executive Director Bruce Hamilton, California Public Utilities Commissioner Dian Grueneich, City of Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates, Town of Moraga Vice Mayor Lynda Deschambault, as well as Berkeley scientists and professors, and representatives from other state agencies. Assemblywoman Hancock addressed the questions and comments of the audience members in a lively public forum. Participants were also able to take advantage of the wide array of environmental organizations at a Resource Fair throughout the day. All in all, the town hall meeting underscored the importance of taking immediate action to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability.

Many of our presenters also put together wonderfully informative PowerPoint presentations, which you can now access on our website. To view the presentations from the event, please click on the links in the following agenda of the event. (All presentations are in PDF format.)
