Legislative Internship
California State Assemblyman Mark Leno’s internship program offers students and recent college graduates a rewarding interactive experience with community and state wide issues. Recently elected, Assemblyman Leno represents the Eastern part of the City of San Francisco (13th Assembly/District, California). He is presently Chair of the State Assembly Public Safety Committee. Prior to being elected, Assemblyman Leno served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He is directly involved with many local and national organizations including the LGBT Community Center Project, Haight Ashbury Community Services, the American Jewish Congress, Mobilization Against AIDS, and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. Assemblyman Leno has also vigorously worked on matters related to housing, health, alternative fuel, environment, finance, etc. Outside of his capacity as an elected official, Leno has been a tireless supporter of nonprofit organizations in San Francisco.
Position:
An internship with Assemblyman Leno provides a fascinating opportunity to participate in the daily operations of the Capitol Office in Sacramento. We are dedicated to working with interns to provide an amazing, experiential learning opportunity. Interns are assigned to work with Assembly staff who are responsible for Assemblyman Leno’s legislative or administrative operations. An intern's time is divided between substantive projects and support work (errands, copying, mailroom duty and answering phones). Interns are assigned to staff the member depending on their interests and academic background.

- Ability to follow instructions & complete tasks efficiently and thoroughly
This internship is unpaid. Flexible hours. We will work with students to receive credit. There is no application deadline. Interns are accepted throughout the year.
