Leno Hosts Free Career & Health Resources Fair
Health screenings and evaluations & career and employment opportunities offered at free event for Bay Area residents this Friday

SAN FRANCISCO, CA— Assemblyman Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) will host a free Career and Health Resources Fair on Friday, August 3, 2007 at the Hiram Johnson State Building at 455 Golden Gate Avenue from 1-4 p.m.

WHAT:   Career and Health Resources Fair
WHEN:   Friday, August 3, 2007
TIME:     1-4 p.m.
WHERE: Hiram Johnson State Building, 455 Golden Gate Ave.

“This event will bring local businesses and health care professionals together under one roof to address two significant needs of our community— jobs and healthcare.  We are providing a one-stop shop for the community that will help improve both their physical and economical health,” said Assemblyman Leno, who is sponsoring the Career and Health Resources Fair.

The Career Fair will bring together more than 30 Bay Area employers including Wells Fargo, the University of California at San Francisco and Macy’s who would like to reach out to Bay Area residents seeking new employment opportunities.  The fair will allow individuals to gather information about potential employers and make contacts that can lead to a new job.  Currently about 4.1% of San Francisco residents are unemployed, according to information provided by the Employment Development Department Labor Market Information Division.

The Health Fair will provide residents the opportunity to get a health check-up from Bay Area physicians and medical specialists.  Forty-five health professionals are donating their time and resources to make this fair a success.  Individuals can take advantage of a variety of screenings including diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure evaluations.
