The State of the State will come on the heels of an Assembly Hearing on Assemblywoman Ma’s AB 56, which seeks to establish a Secretary to End Poverty.  During tough fiscal times, it is imperative that the state does not balance the budget on the backs of those who rely on vital services.  The Secretary to End Poverty will be a cabinet-level position, whose duties will include a review of the state’s poverty programs to ensure that they are working in an efficient and effective manner.
