| Assemblywoman Fiona Ma Earns 100% From Consumer Federation Of California | |
| Ma’s perfect score reflects strong commitment to providing universal healthcare and protecting California’s consumers | |
SACRAMENTO—The Consumer Federation of California, a non-profit advocacy organization that works to protect consumer rights, today issued its interim scorecard on how California’s legislators are voting to protect consumer rights. Assembly Majority Whip Fiona Ma earned a perfect 100% score, casting votes in favor of consumers at each opportunity, and never missing a vote. Assemblywoman Ma backed measures to encourage the purchase of hybrid vehicles, ban toxic flame retardants and ensure consumers get promised rebates. The most significant votes were in the healthcare area, where Assemblywoman Ma backed two measures to protect insured Californians. AB 1554 would regulate rapidly rising insurance rates, and AB 1324 ensures that once an HMO approves a service, it cannot arbitrarily take it away. Assemblywoman Ma supported these bills both in the Assembly Health Committee and on the Assembly Floor. “I am proud to have a perfect score on the Consumer Federation’s scorecard,” said Assemblywoman Ma. “My constituents believe in protecting consumers, stopping HMO abuses and protecting personal privacy. As part of the Speaker’s leadership team, I am working to protect consumers and bring quality, reliable healthcare to every Californian.” The scorecard is posted on the Consumer Federation’s website at consumercal.org |
