SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblywoman Fiona Ma (D- San Francisco), who is a joint author of Assembly Bill 3034 and the convener of the Legislative high-speed rail caucus, issued the following statement on the Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s decision to sign AB 3034.

“The Governor’s decision to sign this bill is a victory for high speed trains.  AB 3034 will provide voters with a fiscally sound bond that will kick start a project that creates jobs, takes cars off the highways, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.  As a CPA, I believe that it’s essential for the bond to maintain accountability and create competition among the route segments to ensure that the money will be spent efficiently and effectively.  The signing of this bill brings high speed trains one step closer to becoming a reality in California.”
