California and our nation are facing tough times. We’re watching the economy slow as Americans are pushed from their homes. States across the country are grappling with the rising need for services while tax revenues and budgets shrink. Completed foreclosures in California have increased 327 percent since this time last year. As part of California’s current budget process, the Governor has proposed a 10 percent across the board cut, including $4.8 billion in cuts to education. 

Our office has recently held a number of Town Halls to discuss the devastating impacts of foreclosure and the impact of the Governor’s proposed cuts to local school districts.  We convened panels of school district superintendents, teachers, parents, administrators, school service employees, business leaders from chambers of commerce and organized labor, attorneys, financial counselors, and real estate representatives.  You can watch these Town Halls below.
