Assembly Member DeSaulnier to attend Special hearing on licensure of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselors

SACRAMENTO–Assembly Member Mark DeSaulnier will join Assembly Members Mike Eng and Karen Bass for an Interim Session Informational Hearing of the Assembly Business and Professions Committee. The hearing will provide diverse perspectives on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors: Training, Licensing and Oversight.

Who: The Assembly Business and Professions Committee chaired by Assembly Member Eng with presentations from the State Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, the State Board of Behavioral Sciences, the California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the American Psychological Association, The Justin Foundation, and other counseling experts

 What: Overview and discussion of substance abuse counseling in California’s private and public sectors and the need for increased standards, like those proposed in Assembly Bill 1367 by Assembly Member DeSaulnier

When: Tuesday, October 30, 2007, 10:30 A.M.
