Assemblymember Dave Jones (D-Sacramento) will join leaders of “Operation Christmas for Our Troops III” on Tuesday afternoon to highlight the effort to collect toys for families of military personnel deployed overseas.

The goal for Operation Christmas for Our Troops III is to deliver a happy holiday season to the children and military troops deployed during this season. Santa’s military elf, Rodney Stanhope, will be collecting toys for the children and CDs and DVDs to send to the troops overseas.

This gift drive is sponsored by Yellow Ribbon America, the California State Legislature, The National Guard Association of California, Best Buy Store #133, Sheds and Swings, and Dynamic Marketing, Inc.

“We can never do enough to assist the men and women of the armed services. I am honored to help in this way, especially during this holiday season,” says Assemblymember Jones.

In addition to receiving a 100% score on racial equity issues, Assemblymember Jones authored legislation to require interpreters in civil court actions or proceedings that involve parties with limited English proficiency (AB 2302). This legislation was vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger.
