(Sacramento) – Identity theft is one of the fastest growing consumer issues in America. In this Assembly Report for Friday, September 7, 2007, we learn Assembly Democrats are working to keep Californians safe from identity theft through Assembly Bill 779 by Assemblymember Dave Jones. AB 779 will require businesses to use the latest encryption technology to safeguard consumer’s personal information, keep track of all employees who have access to that information and require them to keep credit card information only as long as is absolutely necessary.
