Assemblymember Jones Names May O. Lee As His Woman Of The Year

Every year, the California State Assembly holds a “Woman of the Year” ceremony to honor the women of California who have made a significant contribution to their communities.

This year, Assembly Member Dave Jones has names May O. Lee, a longtime community activist in the Sacramento region, as the Assembly District 9 Woman of the Year.

May is founder Asian Resources community based organization that provides myriad of services to the community including ESL classes, language and job training, health education, youth and senior programs and much more.  May is also co-founder of the Sacramento Asian Pacific Islander Chamber of Commerce.

Over the last three decades, she has served on the boards of numerous organizations and has helped mentor countless community leaders to serve the Sacramento community.

“I have long been an admirer of May’s work in our community” said Assembly Member Jones.  “I am honored to have her as my Woman of the Year.”

The Assembly celebration begins with a continental breakfast with Lt. Governor John Garamendi.  Next, the Assembly holds their “Woman of the Year” ceremony in the Assembly Chambers.  Afterwards, there is a reception in the State Capitol for all honorees.
