Assemblymember Jones at the Woman of the Year Ceremony with his nominee, Rachel Iskow, Executive Direcor of Sacramento Mutual Housing Association.  Jones and Speaker-elect Karen Bass later presented Iskow with a resolution.  March 10, 2008

Assemblymember Jones established a coalition to promote free tax assistance in Sacramento to help filers claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).  The 2008 kick off event was held at Food Source in the Oak Park community of Sacramento.  January 31, 2008

Assemblymember Jones participates in the Wreaths Across America ceremony at the State Capitol. Ceremonies were held at every State Capitol and also the Nation's Capitol to honor Veterans. The following Saturday wreaths were placed at over 200 Veteran's Cemeteries. December 10, 2007


Assemblymember Jones speaks at the grand re-opening of Tex Mex, the only union restaurant in downtown Sacramento.  He later took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony.  December 3, 2007

Assemblymember Jones partnered with Senator Darrell Steinberg and California American Water to distribute 800 turkeys as part of Operation Gobble.  The event was held at Mutual Assistance Network of Del Paso Heights and turkeys were given to over 20 area non-profit organizations and later distributed to residents in need.  November 20, 2007 


Assemblymember Jones at the Central California Legal Services Champions of Justice Luncheon.  Jones was honored with the Ronald M. George Equal Justice Award.  November 1, 2007


Assemblymember Jones recently held a town hall in the Sacramento community of Del Paso Heights at the Hagginwood Community Center.  He is pictured speaking with a few constituents prior to the meeting and then taking part in a table discussion on community priorities.  November 14, 2007 


Assemblymember Jones held a free screening of Hunted Like Animals at the Crest Theatre on Tuesday, October 30th.  Hunted Like Animals is an eye-opening documentary about the ongoing human rights violations of the Hmong people in the jungles of Laos.  The film’s director, Rebecca Sommer, traveled from New York to take part in the event (pictured with Jones above).  Following the screening, a panel of experts spoke on the topic (pictured above).

In August, Jones introduced Assembly Joint Resolution 36, the Hmong Human Rights Resolution, to urge the United States government to take various actions at the international level to help the Hmong in Laos and Thailand.  In January a rally and lobby day will be held at the State Capitol to garner support for the passage of AJR 36.

Assemblymember Jones, along with local law enforcement, consumer groups, and computer experts, stood before a Marshalls department store in Sacramento to urge swift passage of AB 779.  The bill would require retailers and governments to protect consumer information from costly and damaging security breaches.  In early 2007 TJX Companies, parent of TJ Maxx, Marshalls and other retailers, reported that information on 45.6 million credit and debit cards was accessed by hackers, making it the largest security breach ever.  August 21, 2007

Assemblymember Jones, joined by local law enforcement and elected officials, speaks about AB 1724.  AB 1724 would let cities and counties pass ordinances allowing for law enforcement to seize vehicles used in drug buys and prostitution stings.  August 9, 2007

Assemblymember Jones stands next to Susan Haight and Peggy Fong as they speak in favor of AB 951.  AB 951 bans drinking on the American River between Hazel Avenue and Watt Avenue for three summer holidays – Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.  Haight’s son, Brian Haight, and Fong’s daughter, Kendall Lui, died in a drunken driving accident last July 4.  The driver had been drinking while rafting on the river.  June 18, 2007

Assemblymember Jones and Sacramento Police Chief Albert Najera address the importance of pre-school at Washington Elementary School.  Following the press conference, Jones read to students.  Jones is the author of AB 571 which would require the state to offer voluntary preschool to all low-income three and four year olds by 2011-12.  May 29, 2007

In response to IRS calculations that Sacramento residents are failing to claim over $39 million in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC), local officials, led by State Assemblymember Dave Jones, established a coalition to promote a Free Tax Assistance program in Sacramento.  At the 2007 kick-off event, Jones participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony with other local officials and then provided tax assistance to a constituent. February 1, 2007
