Assemblywoman presents resolution on California Small Business Day |

| SACRAMENTO Assemblywoman Lois Wolk (D-Davis) will honor a local biotechnology company tomorrow as part of California Small Business Day. The Assemblywoman will present Thomas Anderson, chief executive officer of the Woodland-based Lipomics Technologies, Inc., with a resolution at a luncheon sponsored by the California Small Business Association.
“Lipomics is the first in what I hope will be a long line of successes to graduate from the Development Center and into our local business community,” said Wolk. “It’s really a wonderful example of how the public and private sectors can help each other. The Development Center provides infrastructure and assistance for new high-tech businesses, which then bring jobs and tax dollars into the district." Lipomics Technologies, Inc. is a privately-held company based in West Sacramento specializing in lipid metabolite analysis and interpretation. The company got its start five years ago at West Sacramento’s Technology Development Center, an incubator for biotechnology businesses founded by the late Charlie Soderquist and other entrepreneurs. “Lipomics Technologies has reached research agreements with many top-level pharmaceutical companies and research institutes, and has raised $3.7 million in financing,” said Wolk. “I congratulate the company on their success, and look forward to seeing more businesses graduate from the Development Center.” |
