Working with Legislature to create new resources bond for future purchases |

| SACRAMENTO Tomorrow Assemblywoman Lois Wolk (D-Davis) will join in the celebration of historic $4.8 million purchase of the Eastern and Vallejo Swett Ranches. The purchase completes the third phase of the Solano Land Trust’s 4,000 acre acquisition of open space in the Solano County foothills.
Acquisition of the 1408-acre and the 905-acre Vallejo Swett Ranch completes the Solano Land Trust’s purchase of Sky Valley-Cordelia Hills open space from Pacific, Gas & Electric. Combined with the Land Trust’s prior acquisition of two the Eastern Swift Ranch and the King Ranch from PG&E, the property creates an open greenbelt between Fairfield, Benicia, and Vallejo. “This is a momentous occasion. I want to commend the Solano Land Trust for their leadership in this deal. The Land Trust took a key role, coordinating the efforts of several committed parties to find the funds to complete this purchase,” said Assemblywoman Wolk. “Their work has helped preserve an open space for future generations of Solano County residents to enjoy.” A vocal supporter of efforts to establish permanent open space and parklands, Wolk is currently involved in legislative efforts to create a new resources bond. She is also a member of the statewide Wildlife Conservation Board which allocated funds for the purchase. Other key players in the purchase were the California Coastal Conservancy, the Tri-City and County group, Solano County, Vallejo and the Greater Vallejo Recreation District, Fairfield, Benicia, the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. “This open space is a permanent buffer between the cities of Benicia, Vallejo, and Fairfield prohibiting the cities from encroaching upon one another,” said Wolk. “I congratulate all those who worked to preserve this land.” |
