Congress of California Seniors Gives Wolk Perfect Score for ‘04 |
|
| SACRAMENTO - Assemblymember Lois Wolk (D-Davis) has once again received a perfect score from the Congress of California Seniors, the statewide organization announced recently. Wolk, who chairs the Assembly Human Services Committee and authored one of the key bills supported by the association, was one of a handful of legislators to score 100%. The perfect score is the result of an analysis done by the group based on legislators' votes on key pieces of senior legislation. "This is a wonderful honor," said Wolk. "I have always been an advocate for seniors both in Sacramento and when I was in local government. Seniors are a vital part of our communities and we need to make sure their interests are protected." Wolk was the author of AB 2474, a bill to help seniors fight elder financial abuse. The bill was sponsored by the Yolo County District Attorney and was a top priority of the senior advocacy groups around the state. "The elder financial abuse bill was a huge fight in the Capitol and we ultimately lost out to the powerful banking lobby," said Wolk. "But we'll be back next year and we will get it to the Governor's desk." |
