SACRAMENTO–The California Association of Recreation & Park Districts (CARPD) presented Assemblywoman Lois Wolk (D-Davis) with its “Legislator of the Year” award today for her leadership and advocacy for parks, recreation, and open space issues. “I am honored to be recognized by a group like CARPD, which is committed to providing Californians with access to park and recreation services,” said Wolk. “This year, as Chair of the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee, I will work to ensure that bond funding is fairly allocated throughout the state, without overlooking underserved areas like the Central Valley.” Contributing to Wolk’s selection was her strong voting record on legislation relating to parks, recreation, and open space issues—as well as her leadership role last year in advocating for inclusion of funding for parks in the Governor's infrastructure bond package. “Assemblywoman Wolk was selected for her continued support as a legislator and as Chair of the Assembly Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committee,” said the CARPD’s Executive Director Henry Agonia. “She understands that parks, recreational services, and open space are part of our infrastructure and are important to the quality and health of the state itself.”
