Wolk honors local wrestling champions at Capitol

Wrestling team receives resolution on floor of the Assembly chambers

SACRAMENTO–Assemblywoman Lois Wolk (D-Davis) honored the Bulldogs, Vacaville High School’s state wrestling champions, at the State Capitol this morning.

Wolk paid tribute to Vacaville High School’s Boys Wrestling Team during a ceremony on the floor of the Assembly chambers for the team’s first-ever state title, won at the 2007 California Interscholastic Federation State Wrestling Championships in March.

“The bulldogs worked hard for this victory,” said Wolk. “They were trailing two teams on the second day of the tournament, but pulled it together and came away with a strong victory. I and the rest of the 8th Assembly District are very proud of their accomplishment.”

Among those receiving the resolution were team members Aaron Hendricks, Adam Delagarza, Amos Lukehart, Bo Lukehart, Clayton Jack, Drew Hylton, Erin Mahoney, Garrett Valenzuela, Garrett Walton, John Feaster, Kody Klaus, Michael Kent, Taylor Hodel, Tyler Johnson, Tyler Spencer, and Zach Sesar.

Wolk also recognized High School Head Coaches Adam Wight and Clint Birch, Assistant Coach Armando Orozco Jr., Head Middle School Coach Chris Moreno, and Coach Emeritus Rich Penaluna—as well as Vacaville Unified School District Superintendent John Aycock, Vacaville School Board Member Bill Hausler, Vacaville High School Principal Dr. Gibson, and Vice Principal Ed Santopadre.
