The Eighth Assembly District encompasses most of Yolo and Solano counties. Nearly 85 percent of Yolo County’s 150,000 residents live in the county's four cities-- Davis, West Sacramento, Woodland, Winters. The region's proximity to Sacramento, two major interstates, and an international airport place it in one of California's major transportation hubs.
The Eighth District also contains 70 percent of Solano County's population. Solano County, like Yolo County, is largely agricultural. Containing a majority of the county's 827 square miles, the county boasts many bountiful farms, vineyards and orchards. The majority of the 260,000 residents living within the Eighth District live in its five major cities-- Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Suisun, and Vacaville. The county is located on the northeast end of San Francisco Bay, just west of Sacramento.
