Evans and Aghazarian Wager High School Football Championship

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymembers Noreen Evans (D-Santa Rosa) and Greg Aghazarian (R-Stockton) announce that they have a friendly wager on the outcome of the high school championship football game this Saturday between the Napa High Indians and the St. Mary’s Rams.

“This is going to be a great game and our wager adds to the fun,” said Evans.  “I look forward to seeing Greg in Napa High’s jersey early next year.”

There are two terms of the wager.  First, the Assemblymember whose team loses must provide the other with a case of wine from his/her Assembly district.  Second, the Assemblymember whose team loses must also wear the winning team’s football jersey on the Assembly Floor during session when the Assembly reconvenes in January.

“I join with our community in cheering on the St. Mary’s Rams as they play to bring home a second sectional championship to Stockton in the last four years,” said Aghazarian.  “While we may be rooting for different schools, Assemblywoman Evans and I commend the student-athletes from both teams, whose talent on the football field and excellence in the classroom make each of them winners regardless of the outcome of the game.”

Both Napa High and St. Mary’s have a 12-1 record.  They are playing for the championship title in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Sacramento-San Joaquin Section Division I.
