(SACRAMENTO, CA) After learning that a few glasses of Napa Valley wine are helping budget negotiators get closer to a deal, Assemblymember Noreen Evans (D-Santa Rosa), Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus and Chair of the Select Committee on Wine, supplied Speaker Fabian Núñez with a couple more bottles to help seal a deal.

The Sacramento Bee reported on July 19th that the Assembly Speaker opened a bottle of 2002 Joseph Phelps Insignia and a 2003 red wine from Quintessa Estate in the midst of budget negotiations which had been in a three week impasse.

“Nothing brings people together like sharing a glass of wine,” said Evans.  “I am happy to supply the Speaker with wine to help bring a deal forward so that we can pass a budget for the people of California.  The Speaker is especially fond of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.  So, I sent over a bottle from Heitz Cellar and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars.  And, there’s more where that came from if necessary.”
