| Huffman Receives "2008 Gordon Cologne Award" from WateReuse Association |
|
Newport Beach, CA – Today Assemblymember Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) received the 2008 Gordon Cologne Award for his work to promote water recycling and water efficiency in California. The WateReuse Association presents this award annually to individuals who advance water reuse in the state. “I am committed to doing everything I can during my time in the Legislature to expand the uses of and increase funding for recycled water, and to eliminate the barriers that prevent us from realizing our water reuse potential,” Huffman said. Assemblymember Huffman introduced two critical pieces of water reuse legislation in 2007 that were signed by the Governor: AB 1406 permitted recycled water in condominiums, and AB 1560 required water efficiency standards to be incorporated into the state’s building standards. The award, which was part of the WateReuse Association’s 2008 annual conference, is named after Gordon Cologne, a former legislator and judge who authored the Porter-Cologne Act. |
