Assembly Member Jared Huffman Honored by League of California Cities for Outstanding Leadership

Sacramento — The League of California Cities recognized Assembly Member Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) tonight for his on-going commitment to city issues including fiscal stability, quality of life and the environment.  He is one of just nine state legislators being honored by the League for their support of local government, particularly during the 2007 legislative session.

Along with being featured in the January issue of Western City magazine, Assembly Member Huffman and his colleagues were honored at a special reception in Sacramento, at the Sutter Club.

League Executive Director Chris McKenzie remarked on the legacy of Assembly Member Huffman’s local government roots.  ”Having served on his local water district board, Jared Huffman is familiar with the challenges facing local officials.  We appreciate his work during his first term in the legislature to provide cities with more fiscal stability and autonomy.  The League anticipates a productive relationship with the Assembly Member for many years to come.”

“I’m honored to receive this recognition from the League of California Cities,” said Assembly Member Huffman. “I have a responsibility to my constituents as well as the people of the state to be a strong advocate for local government and the issues that will ensure strong communities.”

Founded in 1898, the League of California Cities is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge and skills, exchange information, and combine resources so that they may influence policy decisions that affect cities.  The League’s mission is to restore and protect local control for cities through education and advocacy to enhance the quality of life for all Californians.
