Assemblymember Berg Attends Legislative Hearing on High Gas Prices

Legislators seek answers and explore solutions on lowering fuel prices

Sacramento - Today, Assemblymember Patty Berg (D-Eureka) attended a legislative hearing held by the Assembly Transportation Committee and the Assembly Select Committee on Gasoline Competition, Marketing, and Pricing entitled "Potential Solutions: Driving Down The Cost Of Fuel."

"While I recognize this is largely a federal issue, I am open to exploring what the State can do to keep prices under control," said Berg. "I offer my full support to efforts being made by Senator Boxer and Representative Thompson to reduce gasoline prices."

This was the second in a series of public hearings the Assembly Transportation Committee held to explore the recent spike in gasoline prices, and to seek remedies to reduce inflated prices. Testimony was given by Attorney General Bill Lockyer, California Energy Commissioner James Boyd, and Joe Sparano, President of the Western States Petroleum Association, among others.
