Assemblymember Patty Berg will attend the Stewards of Slavianka’s Annual Membership picnic. Berg, who sits on the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife as well as the Wild Life Conservation Board, will be addressing members of the Stewards of Slavianka as well as talking with Brendan O'Neil, State Park Resource Ecologist, about the group’s efforts to restore Fife’s Creek and other projects.

Berg said, “I’ve been looking forward to meeting with this group for a long time. So much of what they do is pertinent to my work in Sacramento. I know this day will be invaluable to me.” She went on to say, “I hope to work with the Stewards of Slavianka and become part of the wonderful environmental stewardship they provide for our park system.”

Executive Director Michele Luna will also be on hand for the day. Luna said, “This is a great opportunity for our members to meet Assemblymember Berg and share with her some of what the Stewards of Slavianka are doing. We look forward to working with her in the future.”

Elected in November of 2002, Assemblymember Patty Berg represents the 1st Assembly District. The District stretches from the Oregon Border south to include the Counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, Trinity and parts of Sonoma. In addition to the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks & Wildlife, she also serves as Chair of the Joint Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture and Vice Chair of the Assembly Committee on Aging and Long Term Care. In addition, the Assemblymember serves on the Assembly Agriculture, Appropriations, Higher Education, and Transportation Committees and was recently appointed to the Select Committee on California Wine.
