SACRAMENTO – After wrapping up her first session that ended in the wee hours of the morning, Assemblymember Patty Berg will be spending time talking to and visiting with a variety of groups and individuals throughout the district. She plans to meet with local leaders and organizations to touch base on a variety of concerns facing the North Coast.
As part of her time in the district, on Wednesday September 24th, Berg will participate in a daylong program, sponsored by the Sonoma County Farm Bureau now in its ninth year. The Sonoma County Annual Farm Bureau Institute is a highly acclaimed program designed for government officials, executive leaders and the media to explore some of the agricultural and natural resource issues of Sonoma County. Assemblymember Berg and others will spend the day traveling to parts of the county to experience its agricultural diversity and examine how agriculture, as an industry is faring and working to sustain itself. The program includes behind the scenes farm tours along with industry leaders speaking on timely and important issues.
Berg said, “Now that the Legislature is not in session, I’m really looking forward to getting out there and having even more quality time in the district.” She continued, “I’m especially excited about the Sonoma County Farm Bureau Institute. Agriculture is such a vital part of the economy in the entire district. I just know this will be very valuable.”
The Assembly legislative session ended on September 12th and will reconvene again on January 5th, 2004. Berg plans to spend a significant amount of that time throughout the expansive 1st Assembly District, talking with constituents and dealing with issues here at home.
