Sacramento – Assemblywoman Patty Berg (D-Eureka) has been appointed to the Legislative Advisory Committee of the Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB). The WCB selects, authorizes and allocates funds for the purchase of land and waters suitable for recreational purposes and the preservation, protection and restoration of wildlife habitat.
The WCB's main functions are land acquisition, habitat restoration and development of wildlife oriented public access facilities. These activities are carried out by programs such as the Land Acquisition Program, Public Access Program, Habitat Enhancement and Restoration Program, Inland Wetlands Conservation Program, California Riparian Habitat Conservation Program, Natural Heritage Preservation Tax Credit Program (Tax Credit Program) and the Oak Woodlands Conservation Program.
“I am pleased to be appointed to the Wildlife Conservation Board. This puts me in an excellent position to advocate for valuable environmental projects that will benefit the 1st Assembly District,” Berg said.
Most of the projects that have been funded by the Wildlife Conservation Board come from Propositions passed by the voters such as Props. 12, 49, and most recently Prop 50.
