SACRAMENTO—Assemblywoman Patty Berg, Chair of the Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health and Human Services issued the following statement in response to the Governor’s budget:

“It’s a classic mixed bag of good and bad. And that’s a fine place to start, because this isn’t a budget, this is just the governor’s initial suggestion on what a budget should look like. We have a lot of work ahead of us before summer, when we actually pass a budget.

“But, bottom line, and I’ve been saying this—and meaning it—since I got here: we will not balance this budget on the backs of seniors or California’s most vulnerable citizens.”
