Assemblymember Berg’s Statement on California’s Fiscal Emergency

Berg Legislation Protects Seniors
From Financial Scams

(Sacramento) – California Assemblymember Patty Berg (D-Eureka) has legislation pending that will protect senior citizens from the growing problem of financial scams. In Assembly Bills 2149 and 2150 Berg calls for tighter control on the language financial consultants and life insurance agents can use to promote themselves. Specifically it bans them from using a credential or professional designation indicating or implying that he or she has a special certification or training in advising senior investors. This Assembly Web Report provides further details on Berg’s legislation and her efforts to keep seniors financially secure.
