SACRAMENTO – First District Assemblymember Wesley Chesbro (D-North Coast) received high marks for his votes on environmental protection, senior citizen, consumer protection and social justice bills in the recent legislative session.
Chesbro scored a 100 percent from California League of Conservation Voters for this votes on bills that protect the environment. The CLCV scored legislators of both houses for their votes on 22 bills on issues ranging from protecting state parks to blocking expansion of off-shore oil drilling. Chesbro was one of 12 members of the 80-member State Assembly to receive a 100 percent score from the CLCV.
Sierra Club California scored Chesbro 14 of 15 for his votes on bills involving the environment. That score ranked in the top five among members of the Assembly. The Sierra Club tracked votes for 15 bills on topics ranging from clean energy to off-shore oil drilling to timber harvest practices.
The Consumer Federation of California gave Chesbro a 100 percent on its legislative scorecard for his votes on key consumer rights bills. The CFC evaluated legislators on a number of issues, including financial privacy protection, health care reform, food safety, household toxics, false advertising, deceptive insurance industry practices and real estate lending reform. Chesbro was one of 21 members of the 120-member Legislature to earn a perfect score from the CFC.
The California Alliance for Retired Americans gave Chesbro a 100 percent score for his votes on health care reform, economic security, affordable housing protection, long-term care and legal protections for senior citizens.
The California Communities United Institute gave Chesbro a 100 percent score for his votes on Economic Justice bills, 100 percent for Person of Color Bills, 100 percent score on Women’s Bills and a 96 percent on Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender bills.
