Dear Friends:
Welcome to the web site for the Speaker's Commission on Labor Education.
All Californians owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the labor movement. Working families in California today enjoy some of the best workplace protections, wages and benefits in the nation, thanks in large part to the contributions of the labor movement.
A critical element in guaranteeing that this important legacy is recognized and acknowledged is ensuring that all Californians, but in particular students, are properly educated about labor history and the current workplace protections and other societal benefits that have been, and continue to be, achieved by the labor movement.
The Speaker's Commission on Labor Education serves to promote labor awareness in California and to ensure that students have an informed understanding of labor movement history in California and its contributions to our state.
With that in mind, this site is designed to give you up-to-date information and resources about labor education and labor history. This information can be used in the classroom, the workplace or in the home to educate all Californians about the tremendous labor legacy we cherish in California.
Thank you for visiting this web site and I encourage you to visit often. It will be updated frequently with the latest information.
Sincerely,
Assembly Speaker Karen Bass
