| Majority Leader Bass And The California's Legislative Black Caucus To Host The State Of Black CA In Los Angeles |
LOS ANGELES – Assembly Majority Karen Bass and the California Legislative Black Caucus will host the State of Black California Los Angeles Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, April 19, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Holman United Methodist Church located at 3320 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles. This event is free and open to the public. The State of Black California Town Hall Meeting will feature an in-depth discussion on the social, economic, and political conditions of Blacks in Los Angeles and ways of improving the quality of life for all Californians. In addition, Members of the Legislative Black Caucus will discuss current legislation based on data from the State of Black California report that was released earlier this year. The State of Black California Los Angeles Town Hall Meeting is sponsored in part by Kaiser Permanente and The Gas Company with support from community partners United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Community Coalition, Los Angeles Urban League, SCOPE-LA, and Los Angeles Ecumenical Congress. The Legislative Black Caucus (LBC) represents and advocates for the interests of Black people throughout California. It seeks to increase African- American participation and representation in all levels of government and works to eliminate the disparities that exist for African-Americans in relationship to other races.
