API Joint Caucus observed May 2005 as API Heritage Month with a special Floor ceremony featuring the presentation of the Inaugural API Heritage Awards. The Awards were presented to prominent APIs who have achieved in their respective fields and contributed to the API community. Award Recipients included: Ruthe Ashley (Excellence in Public Service); Fred Korematsu (Posthumously, Civil Rights); Lou Diamond Phillips (Excellence in Entertainment and Arts); the Honorable Tammy Chung Ryu (Judicial Excellence); Dr. Tony Vang (Excellence in Education); and C.C. Yin (Excellence in Business).
